I love good handmade bread, from deep wheat loaves to light springy sourdoughs. But if there's really no time to bake, I don't dismiss the value of an electric bread maker. The bread made in a bread maker will not win awards, but it will be warm and fresh, greeting you with comforting homely smells, and full of the good stuff you throw in there, from herbs and sun-dried tomatoes to dried cranberries and chopped pecans. That said, if you ever go to San Francisco, head over to a little bakery named Tartin. Their bread is astonishingly good. If you're too far away to visit, they've written a cookbook... http://www.tartinebakery.com/

I have a Bosch universal mixer which I use to make bread about every other week. It really is amazing to me how many people really don't know how to make their own bread or really anything for that matter. The sad thing is most restaurants or boughten food has been processed and definitely isn't as healthy as home cooking.
Thanks!
